American Heart Association

Included are the AHA's scientific statements for downloading and biostatistics fact sheets available in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.

American Medical Association

Provides a link to health and medical resources, a source for locating a doctor by name, specialty and location, information on the AMA, continuing medical education, Fellowship and Residency Electronic Interactive Database Access (FREIDA) System, and AMA published, full-text journals.

Clinical Alerts

Clinical Alerts are periodic releases of messages of one to several pages in length, dating back to early 1991. The Alerts are distributed by the National Institutes of Health and the National Library of Medicine for the purpose of getting important findings to health professionals as soon as possible.

MEL - Michigan Electronic Library

Among a long list of health information resources, one can find AMA Physician Select (choose the doctor and check his credentials), alternative medicine, governmental health information servers, multi-cultural health, sports medicine, statistics, and travel health.

This is a current, information-packed resource of over 31,250 teaching files, over 39,500 medical cases, 517 multimedia courses/textbooks, 732 multimedia tutorials, over 1,750 databases, and over 9,750 movies.

MedFinder on NetMedicine

A search engine, this database includes detailed, descriptive information on thousands of the Internet's best medical webpages. Not only can one find information, but also medical photographs, images and radiologic studies from around the world. A special feature is the Physicians' Choice, a listing of websites reviewed by physicians.

Medical Matrix

This is a guide to Internet clinical medicine resources. The sites are peered-reviewed by practicing clinicians and rated on a scale of 1-4****. The goal of this interface is to provide access to digital clinical medicine documents that can be utilized during the time span of a patient visit.


This site is exclusively for physicians, medical students and other selected medical professionals. It presents interactive grand rounds moderated by experts. One needs to register to use the site. Also included are other links, CME's and conference information.

ACW Style Sheet

Endorsed by the Alliance for Computers & Writing, this is a guide to the MLA-style citations of electronic sources. Some of the citations included are FTP sites, WWW sites, Gopher sites, synchronous communications, E-mail, Listservs, and newslists.


This resource is produced by the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center and partially supported by an educational grant from Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Oncology. There is a good mix of clinical information and patient-oriented information, from clinical trials to financial issues for patients.

HSTAT - Health Services.Technology Assessment Text

Published by the National Library of Medicine, HSTAT is a collection of government publications such as AHCPR (Agency for Health Care Policy and Research) Guidelines, CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports (MMWR), NIH Clinical Studies, and NIH Consensus Development Programs.

Suncoast Gerontology Center
