2000
Research Assistant, University of Texas at Austin
Principle Investigator: Anita Vagelisti, Ph.D.
Topic: Coping Mechanisms of Married Individuals
The quantitative study surveyed married couples. The couples documented the coping mechanisms they choose when their partner violated one or more of the valued standards in the relationship. Initial analysis of the self-reports suggested that couples who rated their relationship as "very good" or "good" choose mechanisms such as making excuses for their partner's behavior, or justifying their behavior, as the dominant sources of coping. Couples who rated their relationships as "unsatisfactory" choose mechanisms such as, not speaking to
their partner for a varied length of time. Assisted with creating the survey, administering instruments, and scoring profiles.
